What You’ll Learn

Project: Explore quantum computing and advanced computational methods for materials discovery

  • Skills You’ll Learn:
    • Work with other leading researchers in the field of computational materials science with application in battery and semiconductor research at AML
    • Learn and apply advanced computational methods such as quantum computing algorithms for materials modeling and discovery
    • Publish the results of your work

What You’ll Do

  • Explore materials for quantum computer hardware
  • Collaborate with other leading researchers in the field of computational materials science and research at Samsung and externally
  • Assist the computational materials research team at Samsung by exploring and developing advanced computational algorithm (e.g. quantum computing), software and workflow solutions towards material property prediction in the field of semiconductor and battery research
  • Contribute towards discovering materials for next-generation battery and semiconducting applications
  • Document test and analysis results for review
  • Provide biweekly updates and final review to mentors and peers on internship status
  • Complete other responsibilities as assigned.

Location: Hybrid, working onsite at our Cambridge, MA office 3 days per week, with the flexibility to work remotely the remainder of your time  

What You Bring

  • Pursuing a PhD degree in physics, chemistry, materials science or related disciplines
  • Solid foundation in computational materials research
  • Candidates with quantum chemistry and quantum computing experience are preferred
  • Programming experience (Python) is a plus
  • Must be self-directed and self-disciplined to plan and accomplish objectives
  • Excellent communication skills to present your ideas and research results
  • You’re inclusive, adapting your style to the situation and diverse global norms of our people.

  • You’re collaborative, building relationships, humbly offering support and openly welcoming approaches.

The pay range below is for all roles at this level across all US locations and functions. Individual pay rates depend on a number of factors—including the role’s function and location, as well as the individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, education, and training.
