Job Summary
The Code Enforcement Officer II-Airport performs specialized and complex inspections and enforces tenant, capital improvement, and airport construction projects compliance with regulatory standards. Schedules and performs inspections to maintain or achieve minimum safety and compliance standards and handles difficult technical problems as needed.
Job Description
Essential Functions
1 Conducts and performs inspections on airport properties, projects, buildings, tenant activities, and capital improvements to ensure compliance with all municipal, state, and federal regulations.
2 Identifies, determines, and compiles non-compliant concerns and addresses issues with appropriate parties; investigates alleged violations and tracks corrective actions; takes accurate data and information concerning code violations and enforces code compliance.
3 Investigates non compliant problems and makes recommendations for corrective action; communicates and collaborates with airside and landside operations and other individuals to address code violations and make changes; performs follow up work and assistance as needed.
4 Creates accurate and professional notices of violation; takes photographs and gathers evidence while performing inspections; issues citations and responds to citizen complaints.
5 Educates and provides information to airport personnel, tenants, and the general public; interprets laws and regulations while educating on laws regulations and code standards.
6 Drafts, maintains, and edits documents regarding inspections, code enforcement activities, and code violations; creates and updates service requests appropriately tracking work assignments and progress.
7 Remains up to date on all current code standards and changes in regulations; maintains certifications and attends professional development as needed.
8 Performs extensive and professional inspections and addresses compliance and code violations; testifies in various hearings and trials for prosecution of violations of Dallas City codes, airport standards, and airside or landside regulations.
9 Performs any and all other work as needed or assigned.
Knowledge and Skills
1 Knowledge of municipal, state, and federal aviation regulations.
2 Knowledge of inspection protocols, policies, and procedures.
3 Ability to determine code violations and suggest corrective action.
4 Ability to issue citations and communicate with various individuals, tenants, and airport personnel.
5 Ability to interpret, educate, and apply regulations to correct compliance issues.
6 Ability to use computer programs, software, and equipment.
7 Ability to provide calm, professional, and excellent customer service.
8 Ability to manage time and complete multiple tasks.

10 Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
High School diploma or GED.
EXPERIENCE:
Two (2) years of heavy citizen/customer service contact resolving complaints and/or conflicts, service, and/or billing disputes.
AND
Six (6) months experience interpreting and enforcing code/ordinances, investigating code violations, and/or issuing citations.
EQUIVALENCY:
A current Code Enforcement Officer certification issued by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations (TDLR) will meet the education and experience requirements.
One (1) year of airport operations (e.g. environmental, airfield maintenance, airport operations center, airside, security, or landside operations) will meet the experience requirement.
Associate degree (or higher) in an aviation, business or social science field will meet the education and experience requirement.
