SPECIAL NOTES:
Two (2) years of professional experience in a related field such as finance, accounting, data analytics, money handling is required. A postsecondary degree in the listed fields may be used as an alternative for the years of experience on a year-for-year basis.
Additional requirements:
- One (1) or more years of experience with Microsoft Excel
Preferences:
- One (1) or more years of professional accounting and/or auditing experience.
- One (1) or more years of experience in workers’ compensation experience.
- Bi-lingual with the ability to fluently speak and write Spanish.
This position requires a security background check, including fingerprint as a condition of employment.
This position requires the incumbent of this position to have access to the Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) SunTax data. As such, a Level 2 background check is required every five (5) years.
We expect to fill this position at or near the minimum salary of $48,000.00 based on the candidate’s knowledge, skills and experience.
Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

Minimum Qualifications for this position include the following REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to collect, analyze and interpret data; work independently; utilize problem solving techniques and conduct fact finding investigations; collect and compile information; plan, organize and coordinate work assignments; prepare and maintain records for auditing purposes; examine and evaluate data; understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing; prepare and generate clear and understandable written communication; communicate effectively; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Skill in using personal computers; using phone system; running copy machine. Knowledge of methods of compiling and organizing and analyzing data; various Microsoft programs and applications. Ability to utilize Microsoft Excel.
Other KSAs (Incumbent may learn on the job):
Knowledge of workers’ compensation compliance rules and procedures. Ability to calculate non-compliance penalties in accordance with 440.107, Florida Statute and 69L-6 of the Florida Administrative Code. Ability to review and analyze business financial records such as Profit & Loss Statements, General Ledgers, and other reports generated by accounting or payroll software.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
Examines and analyzes business financial documents to calculate penalties for non-compliance with the workers’ compensation coverage requirements of chapter 440, Florida Statutes.
Penalties are calculated by determining the amount of premium the employer should have paid in workers’ compensation insurance coverage had it been compliant with Chapter 440, during the determined audit period. To calculate
