About the role

Location & Team GatheringsIntersect has been a fully flexible workplace since its founding in 2016.  We’ve been very intentional about the way we do things. We are not work-from-home, hybrid, or in-office – we are any and all of those options! Deepening social connections and offering shared experiences is a cornerstone of the way we work. We connect as a team at our Team Week experiences four times a year and at our recently established Hub locations - SF Bay Area, NYC Metro Area, NY; Denver, CO; Houston, TX; Calgary, AB; and Toronto, ON.
We are currently seeking candidates located within 60 miles of any of the listed hubs to foster more in-person connections while maintaining our flexible remote culture.
About This RoleAs part of Intersect’s Development team, you’ll lead the strategy and execution of energy supply solutions for large-scale data centers and other high-demand customers. Your work will focus on integrating flexible and firm load solutions—particularly in ERCOT and the Southwest Power Pool (SPP)—to complement Intersect’s renewable projects. You’ll negotiate and structure commercial agreements with retail providers and utilities, manage the setup of large loads within RTO/ISO markets, and ensure compliance with evolving regulatory requirements. This role blends technical expertise, regulatory fluency, and commercial creativity to deliver energy strategies that enable Intersect’s portfolio to serve mission-critical infrastructure with reliable, cost-effective, and sustainable power.
Team OverviewThe Development team transforms opportunities into real projects that power a cleaner future. We originate and advance utility-scale solar, storage, and data center solutions—securing land, permits, interconnections, and offtake agreements that make projects possible. Our work also shapes market strategy and builds the partnerships that connect Intersect’s projects directly with energy buyers, communities, and technology partners. Success relies on collaboration across Engineering, Finance, Construction, and Operations, as well as with landowners, utilities, regulators, and offtakers. Joining this team means contributing to the full lifecycle of clean energy and digital infrastructure development, while growing your skills in both project execution and commercial strategy.
What You’ll Do
Shape Energy Supply Strategies • Negotiate retail tariff agreements, full-service contracts, and sleeving agreements with load-serving entities (LSEs) to support data centers and other large customers • Structure innovative commercial solutions that align Intersect’s renewable projects with firm and flexible load requirements
Set Up and Manage Large Loads • Lead the registration and management of large loads in ERCOT, SPP, and other RTOs/ISOs • Ensure operational and regulatory compliance with all load integration processes • Partner with internal teams to align load setup with project timelines and grid interconnection strategies
Optimize Energy Management • Evaluate and refine contract structures to drive efficiency and cost savings across multiple markets • Provide subject-matter expertise on data center energy management, including forecasting, demand optimization, and risk management • Develop strategies to ensure reliable and efficient energy delivery for critical infrastructure customers
Navigate Regulatory Complexity • Stay current on state and federal energy regulations impacting tariffs, load management, and service agreements • Advise internal teams and clients on compliance requirements across ERCOT, SPP, and other markets • Represent Intersect and our clients in regulatory and utility engagements to shape outcomes that support growth
Engage Stakeholders and Drive Impact • Build strong relationships with utilities, LSEs, regulators, and market operators to unlock new opportunities • Collaborate with Development, Project Finance, Origination, and Strategy teams to ensure energy supply solutions align with Intersect’s broader portfolio and business goals • Act as the trusted point of contact for internal and external stakeholders on data center energy supply strategy
What You’ll Bring • A bachelor’s degree in economics, energy management, engineering, finance, or a related field (MBA or master’s preferred) • A track record of successfully setting up and managing large loads in ERCOT and/or SPP • Extensive commercial experience spanning both load and generation projects • Deep knowledge of tariff structures, retail markets, and regulatory frameworks across multiple RTO/ISO regions
