Job Summary

Avantor is seeking a Manager, Financial Accounting to manage and direct the accounting activities of assigned Avantor operating companies, ensuring that proper accounting and recording of company transactions are performed in an accurate and timely manner and producing financial and other key reports and analysis for management.

This role will be a full-time hybrid position based out of our Radnor, PA office. You will have the opportunity to direct and coordinate the activities of the accounting staff to quickly and accurately record and report revenues, cost of sales / services, operating expenses, assets, liabilities and equity. Also, the Manager will evaluate and make appropriate improvements to internal accounting processes and its internal control environment ensuring that practices are in line with the overall organization expectations.

What we’re looking for: 

• Education: Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field.
• Experience: Minimum 6-8 years’ experience in Accounting; SAP experience preferred.
• Certification(s): CPA preferred.
• Additional Qualifications: 

• Strong command of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (USGAAP).

• Knowledge of full accounting cycle- accounts payable/receivable, account reconciliation and analysis.

• Experience developing strong internal controls as well as remediating weak internal controls desired.

• Experience developing accounting policies and procedures preferred.

• Intermediate to advanced level user with Microsoft Office (especially Microsoft Excel).
• Advanced analytical and problem solving capabilities.
• Detail oriented and excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Support the development and achievement of business objectives for assigned operating companies. 
• Manage day-to-day accounting matters and support business unit stakeholders.  Accounting matters include revenue, cost of sales/services, operating expense, interest, tax, asset, liability and equity transactions. 
• Manage transactional accounting processes such as accounts payable.
• Maintain the general ledger chart of accounts.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and special projects across all entities to further enhance the control environment and simplify processes. 
• Support ongoing business and financial system extensions, upgrades and enhancements. 
• Ensure internal control environment is in accordance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements. Remediating control deficiencies.
• Manage internal and external financial audits.
• Review account reconciliations, journal entries and analyze balance sheet and operating accounts.
• Develop and implement accounting policy & procedures, audit & compliance plans and accounting reporting & analytics.
• Collaborate with the business teams to ensure that transactions are accounted for properly.
• Provide reporting and analysis in support of external financial reporting and related disclosures.  Preparing or approving communications that support accounting assumptions and/or account positions.
• Develop and leverage relationships with internal stakeholders to create open, simple and integrated processes.  Leading projects with resources from these groups to accomplish goals and objectives.
• Measure and improve individual and team performance / engagement.
• Interface and resolve employee inquires, write communications, develop and maintain employee training courses, FAQ's and other communication tools including internal websites.
• Lead or support special projects.
