Position Summary

Weill Cornell Medicine’s Department of Population Health Sciences administers a New York City-based Executive MBA/MS program that was launched in 2017 and is conducted jointly with the Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University. This is a dual degree program that trains seasoned healthcare professionals to facilitate change and innovation—from inside their organizations to the industry at large.  The student body constitutes mid- to senior-level healthcare professionals with diverse backgrounds.

Under direction of the Director of Education, the Events and Operations Manager for the Executive MBA/MS Program will be responsible for managing all student related events, including class weekends, residential sessions, guest lectures, industry focused events, etc.

Job Responsibilities

  • Oversee operations and logistics for class weekends and residential sessions, including classroom spaces, audio/visual needs, catering, accommodations, schedule and staffing, materials, and vendor agreements.
  • Coordinate special events such as guest lectures, industry focused events, and student community building activities.
  • Coordinate with institutional partners on graduation student activities, prepare program specific elements, and coordinate student communications and participation. Provide on-site support for graduation events.
  • Manage and update calendar of events and programming, as well as database of industry partners, guest speakers, and luminaries.
  • Manage relationships with key vendors to support events and student related programming.
  • Process payments for reimbursements, compensation, and vendor payments.
  • Manage student communication channels including program Canvas site, Class Weekend Notes, and Event Newsletters.
  • Manage inventory and distribution of program gifts at designated points of student experience.
  • Support general program administration, as required.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree

Experience

Approximately 3-5 years of work experience in events and operations, preferably in an academic/higher education environment.

Experience with event planning and high-level client interaction.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, analytic, communication, time management and writing skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office Suite and database applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently and diplomatically in a high-pressure, complex environment.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively on projects on an innovative, high-performing team.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills and excellent grasp of English language/grammar.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to pay close attention to detail.
