LG2 Environmental Solutions (LG2) provides a wide range of quality, responsive environmental services across the United States. Their capabilities include archaeological and cultural resource assessments (terrestrial and underwater), natural resource assessment, and management.
LG2 has an immediate opening for Biological Technician-Summer Intern in Jacksonville, FL.
Hours/Week: 20-40/ Week
Compensation Range: $22/hr
Key Responsibilities:
- Field Work to include bird monitoring on coastal dredge/beach renourishment sites, wildlife assessments, wetland delineation, invasive species control, ecological monitoring, under supervision of staff biologists
- Office Work to include data management, documentation of field work, report writing assistance, regulatory permit application assistance, under supervision of staff biologists
- Nesting bird surveys for migratory birds, shorebirds, and seabirds.
- Field data collection.
- Daily reporting and survey report.
- Handheld and sub-meter accurate GPS data collection.
- Coordinating with construction contractors, project managers, and resource specialists.
- Other duties as assigned or required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be enrolled in a college or university majoring in biology or environmental science related program, and/or have documented experience in conducting biological field work
- Bird survey/monitoring experience including, but not limited to, bird identification, nesting behavior identification, nesting habitat identification, and nest/egg identification.
- Ability to pass criminal background check with no felony convictions
- Valid Driver’s License
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to work safely outdoors in variable weather conditions.
- Must have a strong attention to detail in documentation of work.
- Must have strong organizational and communication skills.
- Work schedule may include weekends and/or over-time.
- Desire to work in the field for extended periods of time and maintain a positive attitude.
- Willingness and ability to travel as needed.
- Demonstrated independent and effective problem solving and decision-making skills.
