Team Summary

Merchant Sales & Acquiring (MS&A) is a dynamic global team at Visa responsible for driving digital payment acceptance, as well as helping our merchant & acquiring partners grow their business through the deployment of Visa’s innovative products and solutions. Visa has reinforced its focus on long-term acceptance growth by developing partnerships, increasing investment in new capabilities, and enabling exceptional talent to engage our merchant, acquirer and seller enabling partners. The MS&A team in Latin America & the Caribbean (LAC) is at the heart of payment innovation and responsible for developing and executing our merchant and acquiring plans across these markets.

The SVP, Head of MS&A is a key member of the global MS&A leadership team, as well as a member of the LAC leadership team. This role dual reports to the Head of Merchant Sales & Acquiring and the Regional President of LAC. 

What a Head of Merchant Sales & Acquiring, Latin America & the Caribbean does at Visa:

Lead all Visa merchant, acquiring, acceptance, and in partnership with our specialized digital sales team, drive activities in the LAC, by developing strategic roadmaps and high level business cases to optimize incremental revenue.

Develop LAC merchant and acquirer strategy to expand acceptance and grow usage across the region, as well as ensure alignment of the LAC strategy to the global Merchant strategy.

Partner with global/regional/country merchants and acquirers to drive solutions that will jointly benefit merchants or acquirers and Visa.

Oversee regional co-brand business development and relationship management.

Drive acceptance and segment strategies for the region (transport/ fuel/ bill pay/ SME, etc.)

Annual business planning, including development and monitoring of key business performance metrics.

Develop go-to-market strategies and ensure effective implementation by cross-functional teams.

Serve as internal and external thought leader responsible for communicating Visa’s merchant and acquirer vision, present and execute merchant and acquirer solutions strategy internally to executive leadership and externally to executive leaders of current and potential clients.

Lead a high performing team and set clear strategic objectives to achieve functional goals.

The Head of MS&A, LAC will define and drive high-profile, cross functional strategies and plans to deliver sustainable revenue growth. Working in tandem with internal partners, s/he will identify and cultivate merchant growth opportunities, as well as engage with key merchants around the development of merchant business plans. Success will improve day-to-day experiences for consumers and help merchants/acquirers grow their business.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

What you will need:

A strong customer focus with 15-20 years plus experience in managing clients / accounts, developing relationships and driving sales partnerships.

Knowledge of the global emerging and mainstream payments ecosystem, including an in-depth understanding of the trends influencing the merchant payment world.

Experience setting strategy and working with clients and teams across all Latin America and Caribbean markets.
