Environmental Site Specialist

Job Description:

Role Summary:

The Environmental Site Specialist assists the Site Environmental Engineer in managing the execution of all environmental programs at the Front Royal site.  The primary focus of this position will be oversight of hazardous waste disposal, shipping documents and record keeping, non-hazardous waste, and DoT. 

Key Relationships:

• Reports to: EHS Manager

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and track Front Royal generation, storage, disposal, and shipping of hazardous and non-hazardous waste.
• Daily guidance to operating areas in complying with RCRA regulations and developing systems for long-term compliance.
• Developing and managing Waste Characterization forms for waste streams generated by the site.
• Environmental auditing of process areas and participation in 2nd party audits, both as an auditor and host.
• Monitor regulatory requirements and benchmarking to provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
• Backup to Site Environmental Engineer on all environmental regulations to include Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, RCRA, SARA, MACT, and LDAR.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED with Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health, environmental sciences or related field preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years EHS background (combination of education and manufacturing site experience acceptable).
• RCRA ownership.
• A collaborative team player with the ability to take initiative individually.
• Proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.  EHS software experience a plus.
• Experience with EHS management systems and regulatory auditing with strong subject matter proficiency.
• Strong proficiency in both oral and written communication.
