Outdoor Aquatics Intern

Description

The Outdoor Aquatics Intern will assist with planning and facilitating a wide variety of on-water recreational programs, camps, and events held at various on and off-site locations throughout the spring, summer, and fall seasons. The staff person within this position will also perform various administrative tasks, as well as equipment repair, transportation, and maintenance.  Paddling experience is a plus (but not required).

Temporary

Pay Rate: Minimum wage to $25 per hour, commensurate with employee’s experience.

Temporary employees can work more than 6 months and up to 28 hours per week.

Seasonal

Pay Rate: Minimum wage to $15 per hour, commensurate with employee’s experience.

Seasonal employees can work a maximum of 120 days within 6 months, and up to 39 hours per week.

Requirements

By the end of the season, the staff person in this position will gain a tremendous amount of experience working with boating participants of all ages, backgrounds, and skill levels. There is also the opportunity to gain experience working with several types of boats and boating equipment.

1. Boating and trailering experience preferred.
2. CPR/First Aid required.
3. Applicants are required to possess the Ohio Boating Education Course certification or be available to complete the course before the beginning of the season.
4. Weekend and evening hours will be required.
5. Applicants must be able to lift 60 pounds.
6. Work outdoors during various weather conditions (heat, rain, etc).
7. Other duties as apparent or assigned.

Must possess a valid Ohio driver’s license. New employees must satisfactorily complete a background check. Lorain County Metropolitan Park District policy prohibits hiring new employees who are tobacco users.
