Our Organization and Mission: The Office represents the State of Florida in state and federal civil and criminal courts, from trial courts to the Supreme Court of the United States. 

 

Position Summary: This Security Officer position is in the Office of the Attorney General with the Administrative Services in Tallahassee, Florida.

 

Pay: $38,080.12  Annually, 

 

Qualifications: 

A high school diploma or its equivalent.

Experience in law enforcement, security or public contact work can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required high school education.

 

Preference will be given to candidates who possess a current State of Florida Class G Statewide Firearms License and Class D Security Officer License.

Preference will be given to candidates with former law enforcement, corrections or military background.

 

The Work You Will Do: The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following: 

This incumbent is authorized to perform all functions necessary for authorizing vendors, visitors, and members access to the Collins Building; maintaining security patrols of building and building grounds, and to interface with law enforcement and provide security reports as necessary.

The incumbent is responsible for performing required tasks associated with this position as follows:

• Greet public and members upon entry in the lobby areas and obtain information necessary to issue visitor passes.  
• Contact members by telephone to obtain authority to issue visitor passes to persons requiring access to the customer service areas. 
• Determine customer requirements and provide direction to appropriate areas.
• Maintain an accurate and complete visitor pass log and monitor visitor pass numbers to maintain control over issued and non-issued passes. 
• Inventory visitor passes at the end of the day against the daily pass log and make appropriate telephone contact with visitors who have not returned their passes to request they do so. 
• Operation a computer terminal to check and verify members permanent pass status as necessary. 
• Maintain a denied access list to monitor limited member and visitor access to the facility. 
• Control the pedestrian traffic flow in the lobby and waiting area to eliminate congestion and ensure security. 
• Direct or escort groups of visitors entering the facility for training or meetings to the appropriate areas and accompany visitors leaving the facility after hours to the appropriate exit.
• Monitor Security Camera System for the facility. 

Parking Areas

• Make security patrols of the facility parking areas located on building grounds. 
• Monitor the utilization of handicapped, reserved, car pool and vanpool parking to prevent abuse and maintain a violation record for members and visitors with repeated parking violations.
• Request vehicle license plate checks as necessary to identify members or visitors who must be contacted concerning their vehicle. 
• Complete Security Incident Reports as necessary
