Summary:

As a CDL Driver for Atlantic Tire Distributor, you will be responsible for safely operating a truck of at least 26,000 pounds Gross Vehicle Weight. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, exceptional driving skills and a commitment to safety regulations. The CDL driver in this position will be home at the end of each workday.

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities; include but not limited to:

  • Obey traffic laws and follow established traffic and transportation procedures.
  • Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew and checking that vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of trucks and trailers to ensure they are in proper working condition and comply with safety regulations.
  • Maintain clear communication with dispatchers, shippers, and receivers to coordinate pickup and delivery schedules and address any issues that may arise during transit.
  • Complete required paperwork accurately and timely, including bills of lading, logbooks, and other transportation-related documents.
  • Provide excellent customer service by representing the company professionally and courteously when interacting with clients and the public.
  • Perform basic maintenance tasks on trucks and trailers, such as checking fluids, inspecting tires, and reporting any mechanical issues to maintenance personnel.
  • Handle emergencies and unexpected situations calmly and effectively, such as accidents, breakdowns, or adverse weather conditions, while prioritizing the safety of yourself and others.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant transportation regulations, including weight limits, permit requirements, and hours-of-service regulations.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • CDL License: Possess a valid Commercial Driver's License Class A.
  • Safety Conscious: Strong commitment to safety protocols and regulations, with a clean driving record and knowledge of DOT regulations.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to handle physical demands of the job, including lifting, bending, and securing heavy loads.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with customers and co-workers.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail when securing loads and completing paperwork to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities to address challenges that may arise during transit and make quick decisions in emergency situations.
