POSITION TITLE: Program Educator – Youth Services
HOURS: 40 hours per week, some evenings and weekends (as needed)
SUPERVISED BY: Program Manager – MOHAVE COUNTY (LAKE HAVASU CITY)
FUNDED BY: Mohave County Opioid Settlement Funds
SALARY: $19/hr
JOB SUMMARY: The Program Coordinator is responsible for the planning, organizing, and implementation of the goals and objectives of the program.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Facilitate Evidence Based Curriculum in school and community settings
- Connect families and youth to community resources and supports when appropriate
- Facilitate curriculum to youth referred to diversion program
- Facilitate relationships between all service providers, probation officers, and project collaborators.
- Offer face-to-face, goal driven support for youth and families to enhance family functioning, including teaching and modeling coping skills and conflict resolution strategies when appropriate
- Maintain program operations and facilitate program development on-going to meet the needs of the juvenile participants (i.e.: scheduling, resource referral, educational advancement, employment support, documentation maintenance and review.)
- Practice Evidence Informed Approaches – Trauma Informed Care, Positive Youth Development, Youth-Centered Case Management
- Ensures follow through with all assigned program components (i.e.: fidelity, standards, scheduled appointments, community relations, and fiscal).
- Collaborate with all stakeholders to assure goals of youth and families are met
- Ensure participants’ health, safety, and welfare.
- Advocates for participants’ most appropriate education, employment, and basic needs.
- Encourages participants to be involved in the community and fosters participant self-advocacy in activities using Positive Youth Development model.
- Ensures compliance with all agency and probation policy, procedures, and standards.
- Conduct and coordinate regular meetings with project staff, contractors, and consultants to assure consistent understanding of the mission of the project, job responsibilities, program, and funding compliance.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree OR equivalent experience working with youth, justice involved youth, or foster youth
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of RURAL Mohave County, including community norms and resources
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Self-Disciplined, creative, flexible, team player
- Respectful of youth and families’ culture, diversity, and individual needs
REQUIREMENTS:
- Fingerprint and background clearance.
- CPR and First Aid
- Cellular Phone
- Participation in orientation and training as required by AZYP
- AZ Drivers License and reliable transportation, with means to travel about in Mohave County (mileage stipends provided)
