Position Purpose:

Seeking world-class talent to join the world’s leading distributor of automotive and industrial replacement parts and value-added services operating 5,500+ locations and servicing more than 20,000 locations in the U.S and Canada. Specifically, this role will function as a hands-on engineer of a newly formed team to build the next generation commerce platforms for GPC.  Working with a highly talented team, you'll play a key role to build and run one of the world’s largest automotive and industrial replacement parts operations. 

This individual must be a technologist & engineer at heart and be comfortable in enabling new technology and being hands on with the execution of the strategy.  Must exhibit a deep understanding of modern technology stack and agile delivery models, demonstrate the focus on customer experience, and must have a proven track record of modernizing technologies. Close collaboration and alignment with business teams, application development teams, and security will be required.  As such, exceptional abilities in building and maintaining strong working relationships and organizational savvy will be required. 
 

Responsibilities And Key Accountabilities:

  • Collaborates and pairs with other product team members (engineering, and product management) to create secure, reliable, scalable software solutions
  • Specialize in one of the following areas: Software, Data, Networking, Supply Chain, Digital.
  • Participates in all phases of the integration development lifecycle, including unit testing and ongoing support
  • Collaborate with Distinguished Engineers and other Software Engineering resources in designing and implementing integrated, enterprise solutions.
  • Participate in implementing the technology platforms architecture to support and build out the new commerce-related capabilities needed for the unified commerce strategy
  • Act as subject matter expert (SME) in assigned business and technical domains with an excellent understanding of business and system processes, inter relationships/dependencies/interactions among system components and how things work end to end.
  • Employ best practices around observability, monitoring, and system resilience
  • Guide and act as a resource to other engineers on the team
  • Other duties as assigned

Location:

  • GPC has two work locations to choose from, Dallas, TX or Atlanta, GA.
  • We offer a Flexible Work Policy that permits eligible employees to work a hybrid remote schedule.

Desired Qualifications & Experiences: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 2 years (4+ preferred) of software development experience, preferably with high volume B2B Integrations.
  • 2 years (4+ preferred) working in MS Visual Studio development environment, ASP.NET technologies, C# language, with in-depth understanding of XML programming focused on cXML.
  • 2+ years knowledge of Java/Springboot and ReactJS/UI development.
  • Well versed with system and technical design principles, performant coding practices ensuring security requirements are not compromised for functionality and/or performance
  • Demonstrated ability to simplify a complex solution into discrete components to parallelize development efforts reducing the overall time to market
  • Experience with laying out a go-live plan at the conceptual stage, analyzing the pros and cons of multiple options.
  • Experience in destructive testing methodologies and tools.
  • Experience with Agile or Scrum software development methodologies
  • This is an engineering position, and in our team, we believe in “always production-ready” code.
  • This job requires 70 to 90% coding or coding-related tasks every day.
