Job Description

Purpose:

The Human Resources Generalist II will support processes related to student employment, employee onboarding, and I-9 compliance.

Responsibilities:

  • [50%] Serve as Student Employment lead.
    • Resolves and troubleshoots complex issues. Stays abreast of regulations and updates processes as needed. 
    • Coordinates and provides training with new HR Contact processors in divisions for student processing.
    • Conduct training sessions as needed on various topics related to student processing.
    • Advises faculty, staff and business services team members on processes, procedures, and services as well as serving as a subject matter expert and technical resource.
    • Continuously engages with department contacts to ensure understanding of processes and provide support.
    • Serves as Organization Partner in Workday to create and manage supervisory organizations.
  • [35%] Oversee and Manage I-9 compliance.
    • Assist and ensure compliance with I-9 requirements for employees.
    • Serve as Employment Eligibility Verification expert for Texas A&M Engineering. This includes acting in the roles of Guardian Administrator and I-9 Partner in Workday.
    • Responsible for training CHR and departmental representatives on the completion of the Form I-9 and compliance regarding the federal requirements for the Form I-9.
    • Duties include completion of the Form I-9, E-Verify submission, expiring work authorizations and retention of the Form I-9 for active and terminated employees.
  • [15%] Other duties as assigned.
    • Provide personal data management support as needed.
    • Provide support in conducting background checks and verifying educational qualifications for new hires.
    • Plan and execute team-building events, recognition programs, and social initiatives.
    • Collect event participation data and survey feedback to identify trends and improve future programming.
    • Provide staff classification and compensation support as needed.
    • Serve as back-up for faculty processing actions.
    • Assist with tracking the onboarding budget, including purchasing necessary materials and resources for new hires.
    • Provide support and resources to new employees to enhance their onboarding experience.  
    • Provides excellent customer service while assisting stakeholders with HR related processes, procedures and services to build the Engineering culture.
    • Ensures compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
    • Other duties as assigned.

What We Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • One year of related experience.
