About the role

The Team:

Royal Hobart Hospital is Tasmania’s largest hospital, and the Neurology Unit within the RHH is the tertiary referral centre for neurology services in Tasmania. The RHH neurology service provides specialist epilepsy, neuromuscular, neuroimmunology, movement disorders and stroke services including support to Launceston General Hospital, Mersey Community Hospital and North West Regional Hospital. As the major clinical teaching and research centre, RHH works closely with the University of Tasmania and other institutions.  All our services work closely together to focus on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community.

The Role:

  • The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) – Neurology Liaison provides clinical leadership and direction to improve the quality and continuity of care and support provided to a defined set of neurological patients (such as those with multiple sclerosis or other neuroimmunological conditions, epilepsy, stroke and/or neuromuscular conditions) within the Royal Hobart Hospital and other THS hospitals.
  • a pivotal contact point for continuity of care for this defined set of THS Neurology Patients. The position provides authoritative expert clinical advice and supports and coordinates the patient’s care from diagnosis through treatment, particularly in the community and ambulatory care settings, and is an integral part of the interdisciplinary team throughout the patient’s journey.

You will need:

  • Demonstrated specialist clinical knowledge in defined neurological conditions including multiple sclerosis and neuroimmunology, epilepsy or neuromuscular conditions, and the ability to apply this knowledge in screening, management, safety monitoring, phone advice, education and support of patients with such conditions.
  • Demonstrated high level interpersonal, communication, both written and verbal, mediation and conflict resolution skills, and a proven ability to educate, influence and be credible to a range of health professionals and consumers.
  • Well developed and strong leadership skills with the ability to collaborate within an inter-disciplinary team and to consult, refer, liaise and negotiate on complex professional, clinical service and health systems issues.

Details of appointment:

Permanent, part time, day worker position, working up to 36 hours per fortnight, commencing 15 January 2026.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary: $114,851 to $121,886 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type
