This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit. To further Blue Origin's mission of having millions of people living and working in space, we are building the sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the Lunar Surface.
As part of a diverse and hardworking team of specialists, engineers, and designers, you will be accountable for vehicle configuration for the Cargo variant of our Lunar Lander. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of the next generation of lunar landers. In this role, you will lead overall physical integration and packaging of the integrated lander including but not limited to structural, mechanical, fluids, thermal and electrical elements. You will be expected to support vehicle priorities, resolve key vehicle trades, and conflict resolution related to the design of the vehicle. Based on your experience, you will be expected to continually assess and drive design optimization for manufacturing, assembly, test, and operations. You will be responsible for delivering and coordinating records and managing control for the configuration products in support of gated reviews of the vehicles and subsystems.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Contribute to the overall physical integration and packaging of the structural, mechanical, fluids and avionics subsystems within the integrated vehicle
- Create and manage interface definitions between subsystems with appropriate control documents and ensure that the configuration supports major design reviews and program milestones
- Continually assess design for integrated manufacturing, assembly, test and operations and drive design to optimize for manufacturability, quality, and cost.
- Coordinate regular configuration reviews to address module level interfaces, subsystem functionality, assembly, and operations
- Coordinate the cross-functional change management process, facilitating design reviews and ensuring communication between all groups affected by the change
- Contribute to cross-functional trade and impact studies to assist in development and programmatic changes
- Management of the Vehicle CAD models, including making sure top-down design principles, maintaining the CAD structure, and exporting CAD models.
- Ensure the team adheres to the configuration management best practices as well as Blue Origin configuration management standards
Minimum Qualifications:
- Passion for our mission: Millions of people living and working in space!
- Minimum of a B.S. degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar
- Proven configuration control experience on recently developed products from early trade studies through final design, manufacturing, and test.
- Strong social skills and experience working in a highly integrated cross-functional team environment.
- Strong design and integration skills using 3-D CAD software and experience with large assembly management (Creo Pro/E preferred)
- Experience with component packaging of highly integrated and complex products
- Excellent verbal, written and graphical communication skills.
- Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with lunar environment, science, and exploration systems
- M.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Systems, Software, Electrical, or related technical subject area.
- Experience with requirements development/management tools such as JAMA
- Strong knowledge of GD&T practices with tolerance stack-up analysis
