Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant - Cardiothoracic Surgery

Job Description:

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP), a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant; will join our Cardiothoracic Surgery team at the Utah Valley Hospital, in Provo, Utah. Our multidisciplinary practice includes 4 Surgeons and 4 APPs, with additional opportunities to interface with peers across the healthcare organization.

This will be a full time position working directly in the OR with occasional coverage in the outpatient clinic. The APP will be on a call schedule 1 week every 4-6 weeks which also includes weekends and holidays.

About this role:

The APP will be accountable for the provision of patient care at the top of licensure, within your scope of practice. Licensed, credentialed and privileged to perform such duties as:

• Maintenance and promotion of health and prevention of disease;

• Assessment, diagnosis, treatment, correction, and consultation;

• Procedures as outlined by specialty, and referral for health problems;

• Education of the patient, patient's family, clinical staff, and others;

• Prescription or administration of prescription drugs or devices in accordance with a consultation and referral plan;

• Consultation with other healthcare providers;

• Appropriate and timely documentation of clinical care;

• Continually learning and developing for optimal patient care and outcomes.

What you’ll bring:

• Current state license as an Advance Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA).

• Certification as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.

• Eligible for State Controlled Substance License II through V.

• Eligible for Federal DEA Certificate II through V.

• BLS Certification for Healthcare Providers.

• Other certification as required (e.g. ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NRP).

Highly Preferred Qualifications:

• One or more years of cardiovascular, cardiothoracic surgery experience.

• Cardiovascular clinical background.

• New grads are welcome to apply with the requirement of having a successful cardiovascular or cardiothoracic surgery rotation.

• Masters degree or higher.

• Applicable certification from a recognized certifying organization such as the National Commission of Physician Assistants.

• Applicable experience as defined by position leadership.
