Sr. Sample Management Manager, Laboratory Operation

The Role:

Moderna is seeking a Senior Sample Management Manager for the Clinical Biomarker Laboratory to serve as a point of contact to support logistical aspect of clinical specimen testing activities across multiple clinical projects. This position reports to the Associate Director of Lab Operations, part of Moderna’s Clinical Biomarkers group.

Here’s What You’ll Do:

• Lead the accessioning, storing, releasing, and shipping of biospecimen.

• Establish robust procedures to ensure tracking of biospecimen life cycle through LIMS from reception to preparation and release to all clinical biomarker laboratory groups.

• Create the weekly work plan for the sample management team.

• Lead implementation of new automated platforms and their integration into the sample management operation

• Routinely evaluate and recommend the implementation of new strategic sample management objectives.

• Prepare and release specimen for technical staff for testing according to a schedule.

• Collaborate with the Lab manager for the implementation of new technical resources to improve specimen storage through LIMS.

• Mentoring and training the Sample Management team to use laboratory equipment, software, and supplies safely and efficiently.

• Write, review, update, participate to all SOPs directly and indirectly related to sample management operation.

• Acting as a liaison between leadership staff and key stakeholders

• Manage compliance to regulations and SOPs.

• Manage LIMS database and create and implement dashboards.

• Participate in the Laboratory workflow daily by monitoring the controlled temperature units and schedule maintenance with vendors upon needs.

• Actively participate in the cleansing and sanitizing of the lab according to EHS policies and Laboratory SOPs

• Support the implementation of strategic lab operation objectives.

• Duties may change depending on team growth and onboarding new instruments and personnel joining the team along the time.

• Occasionally the job may require lifting up to 15 pounds packages. Overtime work or weekend shift might occurred on study basis

Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table:

• Bachelor's degree in a related scientific discipline is preferred

• Minimum 5 years of relevant sample management experience in CRO, biomedical institution, pharmaceutical

• Experience in lab management (LIMS) and clinical specimen management are expected.

• Ability to oversee multiple aspects of the operations.

• Previous experience in working in CLIA, GLP or diagnostics regulated laboratory is preferred

• Attention to detail, organizational ability, judgement, and excellent communication skill

• This position is site-based, requiring you to be at Moderna’s site full-time. This position is not eligible for remote work.
