Sirigen, Inc. is a subsidiary of BD Biosciences and produces polymeric reagents for use in Flow Cytometry and other biological applications.

As the Staff Scientist in New Content Antibody Development team, you will be expected to evaluate and develop new antibody products and high-quality workflow reagents to support life science research in the fields of immunology and immuno-oncology. You will be responsible for leading product development by designing experiments, coordinating new product testing, reviewing data, troubleshooting, reporting results, documentation, and providing direction to other scientists. You will apply your strong knowledge of immunology and flow-cytometry to help the team launch innovative and high-quality products. You will collaborate very closely with other functions such as Marketing and Operations to design and develop innovative reagents.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for launching antibody and other flow cytometry workflow products for life science research in the fields of immunology and immuno-oncology.

  • Designs strategies and experiments to validate antibodies and reviews data in a team setting.

  • Performs experiments to validate flow reagents and analyzes and compiles data in a report.

  • Responsible for proper documentation and bringing the project to completion and product launch.

  • Independently troubleshoots own projects and provides guidance and supervision to other scientists with their projects.

  • Will oversee day-to-day activities of other scientists and train/mentor junior scientists.

  • Collaborates with Marketing, QC, QA and Operations to design and develop high quality, innovative products for flow cytometry research use to advance the field of immunology and immune oncology.

  • Acts as a technical consultant on cross-functional projects or programs.

  • Represents team and it’s data/recommendations in business meetings and to business leadership.

  • Maintains substantial knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and scientific trends and contributes to scientific literature. May present data at national scientific meetings.

  • Searches, Investigates, and supports development of new methods and technologies.

  • Ensures completion of achievements associated with specific projects.

  • Participates in functional and cross-functional training to advance technical capabilities.

  • Promotes a safe work environment. Offers recommendations on maintaining the safety of the work environment.  Participates in Environmental Health & Safety programs.  Participates in addressing corrective actions whenever a hazard is identified.  Notifies' supervisor of all observed unsafe work practices.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Ph. D. in Immunology or a related life science subject area with 8+ years of relevant laboratory experience; or MS degree with 14+ years industry or relevant experience.

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in flow cytometry.

  • Experience in product development for flow cytometry antibodies or related products is strongly desired.

  • Knowledge of GPDS process is nice to have.

  • Experience with Spectral flow cytometry, Single cell analysis workflow and/or Immunohistochemistry is a plus.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of Immunology and immuno-oncology.

  • Up to date on scientific trends through avid study of scientific literature, attending conferences and through external networking.
