Job Description:

University Cancer & Blood Center is seeking a Full-Time Medical Laboratory Technician MLT to join our team! You will be responsible for performing medical tests for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases. Hours are M-F 7-4 and 8-5.

The Medical Lab Technician (MLT), Medical Technologist, or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) reports to the Lab Manager and processes and tests all types of laboratory specimens; reviews and reports lab results; performs operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentation and equipment; acts as resource as needed. Specific responsibilities include:

Responsibilities

· Responsible for performing moderate and high-complexity testing.

· Performs quality control procedures and instrument checks.

· Notifies providers of critical lab values.

· Meets current documentation standards and policies.

· Follows standard precautions at all times.

· Manages and operates laboratory equipment safely and correctly.

· Demonstrates knowledge of new testing methods, products, instrumentation; remains informed on all current technologies.

· Demonstrates the ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.

Qualifications

· Graduate of accredited school of medical laboratory technician or technologist

· Registered in accordance with an approved certifying agency such as ASCP or AAB

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree in clinical laboratory science, biomedical science, medical technology or in a life / biological science (biology, biochemistry, microbiology, etc.).
