Assistant/Associate Professor (Clinical or Tenure Track) School of Nursing - Fall 2026 (Hybrid)

Description

The University of Michigan-Flint's School of Nursing seeks a clinical or tenure-track (assistant or associate) professor qualified to teach prelicensure courses in nursing to undergraduate students. This is a full-time, clinical or tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor in the School of Nursing.

Responsibilties of this faculty position will include ensuring achievement of required competencies by the learner through planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating instructional activities in the nursing program, in accordance with the philosophy and academic standards of the University of Michigan-Flint. This position's salary and rank are commensurate with credentials, scholarship and experience. The proposed start time is fall 2026.

Primary responsibilites upon hire include use of various instructional modalities, student mentoring, involvement in scholarly and professional activities, and participation in university service is also required.

Other responsibilities include: Instruct and facilitate meaningful learning of the course competencies in the curriculum and proactively support all facets of the campus and learning environment for an exceptional student experience. Provide career education through student-centered instruction that will enable graduates to fulfill the evolving needs for patient-centered healthcare delivery. 

This position also includes additional responsibilities: participating in curriculum and course development, participating on various academic committees and special projects as assigned. Instructional opportunities may vary across undergraduate and graduate programs. 

For the Rank of Assistant/Associate Professor (Clinical or Tenure-Track): Teaching effectiveness and commitment to service (school, university, profession, and community) are expectations of this rank. Scholarship contribution is dependent upon tenure vs. clinical track.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Earned doctorate in nursing or related discipline. If the earned doctorate is not in nursing, a master's degree in nursing is required. If the doctorate was earned via a BSN to doctorate, the doctorate must be in nursing (DNP or PhD).
• Experience teaching in a clinical setting or an accredited undergraduate and/or graduate nursing program
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and students
• Ability to teach in an online or face-to-face format
• Unencumbered license to practice nursing in the State of Michigan or eligible to apply

Associate Professor Tenure-Track - Must go through the college review process and receive Regental approval

• Evidence of supporting faculty governance and collegial decision-making and problem-solving
• Evidence of commitment to student-centered education
• Experience in interdisciplinary teaching and scholarship
• Commitment and patterns of success in working with non-traditional learners
