About the role
GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Be the expert on the Fan Vertical – Maintain a deep understanding of collegiate marketplace and school rights, products, initiatives, policies, and compliance requirements
- Define and evolve the Fan Vertical’s vision – Use consumer insights, performance data, internal research, and market intelligence to drive growth
- Collaboratively set financial and performance objectives – Align goals with Fanatics Commerce’s four pillars: (1) Delightful Experience Everyday; (2) Great Products, Storytelling, & Availability; (3) New Rights & New Markets; and (4) One Commerce Wins.
- Own the Fan Vertical’s P&L – Oversee financial planning, minimum guarantees, and contributions to company goals
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations – Manage rights related to e-commerce, wholesale, and in-venue merchandising
- Build and drive accountability across teams – Foster strong relationships with cross-functional leaders in Buying, Merchandising, Planning, Marketing, Finance, Wholesale, and Operations to align priorities and execute strategies
- Develop and execute go-to-market strategies – Ensure the right products reach the market at the right time, tailored to schools, teams, partners, and fans across all trading channels
- Drive business strategy across key areas – Coordinate strategies in sales, inventory management, pricing, marketing, product segmentation, and promotional planning
- Analyze financial and performance data – Use insights to guide decision-making and optimize business direction to drive profitability and ROI against financial commitments to schools and partners
- Manage direct teams within Fanatics Brands – Ensure operational efficiency at both the e-commerce and wholesale levels, including support for Nike’s collegiate partnerships, where Fanatics Brands serves as an exclusive licensee for adult apparel, jerseys, and headwear for top Nike partner schools
- Direct Team Services function to support school/team obligations – Guide and manage the Team Services function (uniforms/outfitting) for applicable teams (e.g., Nike’s collegiate partners)
- Monitor industry trends – Identify opportunities for rights expansion and continued growth
- Lead business performance reviews – Conduct quarterly and monthly reviews to assess performance and align strategies with partners and internal teams
- Collaborate with other Fan Vertical GMs – Ensure consistency and scalability within Fanatics Commerce.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- A proven track-record of building and leading world-class, high-performance teams to set and deliver against aggressive financial targets and operational deliverables.
- Significant leadership experience, including P&L ownership, in roles within consumer products businesses, including DTC in apparel and/or hard goods; pureplay e-commerce and/or omni-channel businesses, as well as wholesale manufacturing and sales.
- Deep understanding of the league/team/property/college partners and the fans they serve – and the ability to coalesce a unified vision to drive a culture that is relentlessly focused on enhancing the fan experience with Fanatics.
- Obsessive about best-in-class customer/ fan experience across all touchpoints, creating a unified digital/ omni-channel vision and strategy to engage fans, building best in class capabilities across all brands, products, securing deep and broad customer engagement.
- Highly data/metrics-driven and analytical with a structured problem-solving approach and with a profound understanding of how to drive sophisticated customer intelligence capability, working closely with data teams to do so in an omni-channel environment, and will have deep familiarity with the relevant supporting technologies to drive best-in-class experience.
- A natural leader who can appeal to all levels of employees and stakeholders. Will bring the drive to push for growth and results and the grit and resilience to devote sustained energy to the goals and pillars of Fanatics Commerce.
- Ability to collaborate and positively influence teammates to drive decision-making without always owning the ultimate responsibility and accountability of all stakeholders.
