Job Description

The Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority (OMMA) is seeking a Temporary Patient Licensing Processor I. This is a state position, in state government located in Oklahoma City, OK.  This position will not exceed 999 worked hours in the appointment. The hourly salary for this position is $24.03.

Basic Purpose

The Patient License Processor I position reviews and determines approval of confidential patient applications and licensure in alignment with the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority (OMMA) guidelines. This role ensures professional communication with patients and contributes to public health and regulatory compliance. At this level employees are assigned routine duties and responsibilities as an individual contributor under direct supervision. 

Typical Functions

  • Reviews and processes patient applications to determine licensure eligibility in accordance with state laws and rules.  

  • Performs in-depth review of sensitive applications, initiating further inquiries when necessary to verify compliance, and delivers timely recommendations. 

  • Validates and verifies complex application materials for accuracy within mandated timeframes, promptly notifying supervisors of any necessary further investigations or high-priority concerns.  

  • Utilizes various computer software and licensing systems to enter and retrieve information efficiently.  

  • Assists with managing the patient application queue, patient mail, and reviews application status and/or issues while meeting daily quotas as determined by the Patient Licensing Manager. 

  • Other duties as assigned. 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities required at this level include knowledge of spelling, punctuation, and business English; business mathematics; of modern office methods and procedures; the maintenance of complex records; and the major policies and procedures governing assigned programs.

Ability is required to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; perform confidential work and maintain confidentiality; interpret and complete routine matters according to agency policies and procedures; and follow oral and written instructions.

Education and Experience

Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of a bachelor’s degree or four years of technical clerical, administrative, secretarial, or general office work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Work is typically performed in an office setting with a climate-controlled settings and exposure to moderate noise level. While performing the duties of the job, employee is required to talk, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.  This position requires long periods of sitting and daily use of computer and phone.
