About the role

As vital, adaptable members of the Outpatient Pharmacy team at Seattle Children's Hospital, per diem (PRN) pharmacists ensure the continuous delivery of safe, effective, and cost-efficient pharmaceutical care across a diverse pediatric population. In this as-needed role, the pharmacist supports the full lifecycle of medication use across various outpatient care sites, providing direct clinical intervention, patient advocacy, and expert consultation on complex pediatric regimens. Utilizing Collaborative Drug Therapy Agreements (CDTAs), the individual in this role optimizes patient outcomes and maintains seamless operational flow during assigned shifts.

Beyond clinical management, the pharmacist provides vital shift-based operational oversight by directing the medication use process and strictly enforcing regulatory guidelines to ensure the integrity of drug storage and preparation. The role also serves as a dedicated mentor and resource for pharmacy learners, staff, and families alike, bridging the gap between complex pharmacy science and compassionate bedside care. Ultimately, this flexible position upholds a culture of safety, workflow consistency, and continuous professional development across all scheduled outpatient service locations.

  

Required Education and Experience
Graduation from an accredited School of Pharmacy.

Required Credentials
Licensed as a Pharmacist in the state of Washington. License must be in good standing with no active disciplinary actions.

Preferred
Previous hospital, pediatric, or pharmacy clinical residency training. Experience operating or supporting automated dispensing systems, electronic medical records (EMR), or specialized pharmacy technology solutions. One (1) year of pharmacist experience in a retail or outpatient pharmacy or equivalent AND one (1) year of pharmacist experience in a hospital pharmacy setting or equivalent. Two (2) years of fast-paced retail, outpatient, IV room, and OR pharmacy experience with a focus on pediatrics. Experience in a role demonstrating problem resolution, operational accountability, team building, and staff mentorship. Detailed working knowledge of USP 795, USP 797, and USP 800 pharmaceutical compounding safety standards.

Compensation Range

$68.75 - $103.12 per hour

Salary Information

This compensation range was calculated based on full-time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise, and may vary within the range provided.
