About the role

Position Summary...

As a Principal Engineer, you will joining a team who will be designing, building, and maintaining native / hybrid apps for multiple TV operating systems (Tizen, webOS, Roku, Android TV/Fire TV, Vidaa, Vizio, etc.). You will create cross‑platform SDK layers (TypeScript / C++ / Rust “core”) that expose a single API surface to product teams while calling OS‑specific services under the hood.

What you'll do...

  • Optimize video playback pipelines—HLS/DASH, Widevine/PlayReady/FairPlay DRM, HDR tone‑mapping—so 4K content hits frame budget and QA thresholds on each SoC.

  • Integrate ad‑tech components (IMA, VAST/VMAP, SSAI beacons, OMID) with tight SLA for mid‑rolls, dynamic pods, and interactive overlays.

  • Automate CI/CD: containerized build farms, device‑cloud testing (Bitrise, BrowserStack, LambdaTest), firmware signing, and phased rollouts.

  • Deep‑dive debug & perf profiling—memory, GPU bandwidth, GC pauses—and guide OEM partners on kernel or firmware fixes.

  • Mentor & document: publish coding patterns, lint rules, sample apps, and brown‑bag talks for the broader engineering org.

Must‑Have Qualifications

  • 15+ years shipping production software for TV OSs (e.g., Tizen, webOS, Roku, Android TV/Fire TV, or Vizio SmartCast).

  • Fluency in JavaScript/TypeScript and one system language (C++, Rust, or Kotlin/Java/Go).

  • Strong grasp of media frameworks (GStreamer, ExoPlayer, AVFoundation) and streaming protocols (HLS, DASH, CMAF).

  • Experience integrating DRM, closed‑captioning, accessibility, and remote-control input models (D‑pad, voice, air‑mouse).

  • Familiar with graphics & UI toolkits: Canvas/WebGL, LG webOS Enact, Samsung React‑TV‑Kit, Roku SceneGraph components.

  • Comfort with device‑level constraints—CPU/GPU budgets, thermal limits, memory fragmentation—and profiling tools (Samsung Remote Test Lab, LG Developer Mode, Android GPU Inspector).

  • Bachelor’s or higher in CS, EE, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).

Nice‑to‑Have

  • Knowledge of ad decisioning & measurement stacks (Prebid CTV, SSAI, OM SDK, VAST 4.2, SCTE‑35).

  • Experience with ACR or device analytics (Inscape, Nielsen DAR, Conviva).

  • Exposure to Generative AI / ML inference on device (ONNX Runtime, TensorRT) for upscaling, personalization, or voice.

  • Contributions to open‑source CTV frameworks or proposal authorship in W3C Web Media or CTA‑WAVE groups.  <
