Schedule: Full-Time | Days | 1 Saturday per month

Join Long Island Veterinary Specialists (LIVS) as a full-time Veterinary Assistant in our Ophthalmology department in Plainview, NY. Work alongside experienced veterinarians and Veterinary Technicians while supporting advanced specialty care in a collaborative animal hospital environment.

Compensation

Schedule
  • Full-time, days
  • 1 Saturday per month
Responsibilities
  • Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with ophthalmology appointments, diagnostics, and treatments
  • Provide compassionate care and support for patients throughout their visit
  • Safely restrain patients for examinations and procedures
  • Support hospitalized patient care, including feeding, walking, monitoring, and maintaining cleanliness
  • Prepare examination rooms, treatment areas, and equipment
  • Maintain accurate medical records and documentation
  • Follow hospital cleaning and infection control protocols
  • Communicate professionally and compassionately with clients and team members
  • Assist other hospital departments as needed to support patient care and hospital operations
Qualifications
  • Previous veterinary assistant experience preferred, but not required
  • Passion for working with animals and the people who love them
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced specialty hospital environment
  • Professional communication skills and a team-oriented mindset
  • Flexible, dependable, and willing to help where needed
  • Ability to lift 40+ pounds and stand for extended periods
  • Comfortable learning new skills and adapting to changing priorities
  • Fluent English speaking and reading skills required
