What you will do:
This is a professional position that requires the ability to analyze data and understand the accounting and budget processes and procedures, analyze, and interpret financial data from all aspects of the accounting cycle, and connect the accounting data within programs and operations related to the budget/financial structure. Ability to work independently and as a part of a team, attention to detail and resourcefulness in determining the true nature of discrepancies are a must. Perform independent and complex accounting functions involving local funds and governmental funds, that requires the ability to analyze data and understand accounting reconciliations, including monitoring Fixed Capital Outlay contracts, and process Journal Transfers. Responsible for the application of independent accounting, research, auditing, and analytical skills with the ability to identify, evaluate, and resolve problems, coordinates with budget managers, accounting staff, and other offices and assists them in auditing data, ensuring corrections are completed accurately and making recommendations as appropriate.
How you will make an impact:
• Requires accounting knowledge, knowledge of governmental accounting principles and practices, strong data analytical skills, advanced MS Office skills (high emphasis on EXCEL).
• Collect, research, evaluate, and analyze data to recommend and ensure corrections are completed accurately
• Review weekly reports, work with budget managers, accounting staff and other offices to solve any problems and ensure data is accurately reported
• Assist with reporting, research, and other special projects
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
• Experience in FLAIR (State of Florida Accounting system) is highly desired. Knowledge and/or experience in Accounting/Finance/Budget is required
• Knowledge of Governmental Accounting principles and practices is required
• Ability to manage and coordinate large volumes of data, research, and provide guidance to other areas on corrections as needed.
