The General Maintenance Technician is tasked with maintaining the smooth operation of the facility and addressing any issues before they escalate. 

This role involves a broad spectrum of repair tasks within and outside the facility, as well as performing company errands.

General Maintenance Technician Responsibilities:

• Conduct regular maintenance tasks around the building, such as repairing structural damage (e.g., window, door, or wall repair).
• Diagnose and carry out basic repairs on plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems (both preventive and reactive).
• Maintain the building’s HVAC equipment to ensure proper climate control.
• Document daily activities, resolution of work orders, and maintenance and repair activities for equipment.
• Implement preventive measures in the building to mitigate future issues (e.g., applying sealant on a flat roof).
• Respond to alarms and emergencies related to the building and equipment.
• Support the work of vendors for facility and equipment.
• Address potential safety hazards to prevent injuries.
• Inspect and troubleshoot equipment and systems (e.g., ventilation).
• Collaborate with workers and other professionals on special maintenance projects.
• Paint interior and/or exterior as necessary.
• Carry out maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs.
• Perform groundskeeping tasks for the facility (e.g., mowing lawn, collecting trash, plowing, etc.).
• Report issues to the Maintenance Manager.
• Perform cleaning activities such as dusting, mopping, etc.

Requirements

 General Maintenace Qualification & Skills:

• Demonstrated experience in a general maintenance role
• Basic understanding of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems
• Carpentry skills to handle basic repairs around the building
• Experience using hand and electrical tools
• Attention to detail to ensure all jobs are completed satisfactorily and potential hazards or warning signs of problems are not overlooked
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience operating machinery such as forklifts, loaders, scissor lifts, floor sweepers
• Strong work ethic
• Licensing or certifications such as OSHA, HVAC, EPA, are a plus
• A valid driver’s license is required

General Maintenance Physical Requirements:

• Physical stamina and dexterity to handle a full shift of being active and working in and around the building.
• Prolonged periods working on feet, using tools, and performing repetitive actions that require frequent bending and stooping
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
• Ability to work in varying climate conditions (hot and cold environments)
