Position Overview
The Illinois Department of Public Health is seeking a highly motivated individual to manage the Illinois Department of Public Health’s Springfield laboratory. Develops and implements policies impacting the Department’s laboratory programs, which includes microbiological, chemical and clinical testing services and laboratory improvement programs. Works closely with local health departments, private clinical labs, and hospitals. Supervises a large staff through subordinate supervisors.
Job Responsibilities
1. Plans, directs, and manages the administrative and operational activities of the laboratory.
- Establishes and implements policies for the operation of the Springfield laboratory in the Division of Laboratories, Office of Disease Control.
- Directs budget preparation and administration of all programs and operations of the laboratory.
- Makes programmatic and policy recommendations to the Division Chief.
- Interprets administrative policies and procedures.
2. Serves as full-line supervisor.
- Assigns and reviews work.
