Work Schedule - Monday to Friday 10 am to 1 pm CT -Chicago USA Role Overview Step into a dynamic role where you'll serve as a crucial bridge between clients and legal advocacy in the personal injury field. As a Legal Assistant, you'll guide clients through their legal journey from initial contact through successful case resolution, managing complex case documentation while providing compassionate support during difficult times. This position offers the perfect blend of client interaction, legal administration, and case management in a fast-paced environment where your attention to detail and empathy will directly contribute to achieving justice for accident victims. You'll work closely with experienced attorneys while developing expertise in personal injury law, medical records management, and settlement processes.
Responsibilities
- Conduct warm, professional initial client consultations to understand their situations and gather comprehensive case information
- Prepare and manage essential client contracts and business agreements that establish strong attorney-client relationships
- Coordinate health and medical records collection, including managing HIPAA authorizations and release forms with healthcare providers
- Maintain organized tracking systems for medical records from hospitals, emergency rooms, physical therapists, and other healthcare providers
- Manage insurance documentation and correspondence with opposing parties' insurance companies to facilitate potential settlements
- Provide regular, detailed progress updates to attorneys on case developments and milestones
- Handle complex lien settlement processes, ensuring proper payment distribution including medical bill settlements before client disbursements
- Ensure all settlement procedures follow proper legal protocols so clients, medical providers, and the firm receive their appropriate portions
Requirements
- HIPAA certification required (essential for handling medical information)
- Strong voice communication skills for daily client phone interactions and professional correspondence
- Experience or demonstrated interest in legal processes, particularly personal injury law preferred
- Exceptional organizational abilities and attention to detail for managing multiple complex cases
- Professional communication skills with ability to handle sensitive client information confidentially
- Compassionate approach to working with clients during challenging life circumstances
- Ability to work independently while maintaining regular communication with supervising attorneys
