Are you ready to lead from the ground up? As a Powerhouse Unit Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of utilities operations at our Indianapolis site. As a Powerhouse Unit Manager, you will lead a new utilities department at the Indianapolis site. This role will build out an operational resource plan and support commissioning of a new combined heat and power (CHP) facility. This role will also manage existing distributed utilities systems to support the site in meeting safety, quality, yield, cost, and customer delivery goals, and serve on task forces, cross-functional teams, committees, etc., as required.
What you will do:
- Manage daily utility operations (water, wastewater, compressed air, etc.) to meet plant needs and achieve key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Lead the development and operation of the new CHP facility, including resource planning and ongoing management.
- Coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure timely and effective execution of planned maintenance for optimal utility availability.
- Promote and enforce Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) programs to ensure compliance, reduce risks, and maintain workforce stability.
- Monitor and analyze utility system performance, using historical data and key metrics to troubleshoot issues and optimize efficiency.
- Support training and development of plant personnel in utility system operations and process design to build team capability.
- Drive continuous improvement by analyzing processes, recommending operational changes or capital investments, and fostering a culture of accountability and customer satisfaction.
What you will bring:
- Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of operations experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; supervisory experience preferred.
- Background in industrial utilities and familiarity with public utility interfaces; Stationary Engineer and Wastewater certifications (or willingness to obtain) are a plus.
- Knowledgeable in GMP, quality, and safety regulations, with a strong understanding of company and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word; computer literacy is essential.
- Lean Six Sigma familiarity, with Green Belt certification preferred, demonstrating a commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence.
