The successful candidate will inspire a love of movement, foster teamwork and sportsmanship, and support the development of healthy, active lifestyles in our youngest learners. As an integral member of both our Lower School faculty and athletic program, this position includes coaching responsibilities for three athletic seasons during the academic year. This is a full-time, 10-month position reporting to the Head of Lower School in collaboration with the Director of Athletics.
About Lower School PE Lower School physical education at Bullis plays a vital role in supporting the whole child. Through purposeful play, skill progression, and collaborative activities, students build confidence, resilience, and physical literacy. Our program develops fundamental, developmentally appropriate motor skills through an engaging curriculum aligned with SHAPE Standards. K–5 classes are co-taught by two physical education teachers, fostering collaboration, differentiated instruction, and an inclusive learning environment. Lower School faculty are committed to ongoing professional growth and innovative, student-centered teaching practices that support a diverse community of learners.

Duties & QualificationsEssential Functions
Teach physical education to all Lower School students based on the course meeting schedule
Design and develop curriculum content in physical education
Engage students in a curriculum that develops sportsmanship, teamwork, and promotes a healthy lifestyle.
Develop lesson plans and supplementary materials compatible with the basic instructional philosophy
Evaluate student performance by entering grades and comments in a timely manner
Committed to staying up to date on current pedagogical practices and field-related trends
Communicate with parents, school counselors, and administrators on students’ progress, as needed and appropriate.
Design and implement assessments that measure progress toward academic standards and provide timely feedback to students
Ability to use the student learning management system to provide timely feedback, grades, and assignments to students
Collaborate with grade-level and interdisciplinary teams
Extra duties include carpool, recess, lunch, and hallway monitor
Attend divisional and departmental meetings
Other Duties
Coach 3 athletic seasons during the academic year
Other tasks as assigned by the Head of Lower School and Director of Athletics

Education and Experience
Required:
Bachelor’s Degree in physical education or a related field
Minimum of two years of prior teaching experience
Preferred:
Master’s Degree in physical education or a related field
Teaching certificates
Experience with Responsive Classroom
Compensation and benefits are competitive, with an anticipated salary range of $65,000 to $95,000.
