Summary
The Packaging Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating sanitation and operation of all packaging equipment to ensure quality and efficiency. Assists in packaging and sanitation procedures. Must be able to work any shift in a 24-hour schedule.
Hours: 3rd Shift Currently: Four 10-hour shifts Monday - Thursday 10 PM - 8:30 AM
Future State TBD: Five 8-hour shifts Sunday - Thursday Start Time TBD
Responsibilities
Supervise all packaging operations
- Maintain consistent excellent quality of packaged beer. Evaluate performance of the operation, and make improvements to procedures, equipment, or work practices to elevate the quality of the packaged beer.
- Assist in planning and execution of required packaging with Packaging Manager to plan packaging schedules efficiently.
- Maintain clean, sanitary and safe packaging systems.
- Provides assistance with the training and development of SOPs and inventory system.
- Maintain and verify inventory of packaging and sanitation supplies.
- Provide continuous process improvement of the packaging and sanitation operations by enhancing existing procedures, developing new procedures, and recommending upgrades in equipment.
- Identify and correct maintenance issues.
- Complete and submit all required accurate written reports.
Supervise the Sanitation and Packaging Team:
- Assist in performance and conduct expectations for the team and maintaining accountability.
- Assist manager with regularly scheduled Performance Evaluations for team members.
- In conjunction with Packaging manager, determine staffing needs, and work with the Packaging Manager to fill those needs.
- Ensure safety compliance for team members.
- Assist in developing and managing safety training, job training, and cross training programs for team members.
- Develop team members’ skills to assume greater responsibilities within the organization.
- Review and communicate daily on all safety related topics of discussion.
- Investigate and report out on all safety related incidents and immediately follow up with action items relating to safety issues.
- Participate in improvement projects in packaging including 5S, Lean Manufacturing, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and cleaning & sanitation projects.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university.
- Experience: At least 5 years of directly related experience and/or training in a high-speed manufacturing environment, preferably beverage packaging (beer, soda, milk, water); or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have at least 2 years of supervisory experience. Previous bottle, can, or keg filling experience is preferred. Previous forklift experience required. Must have strong mechanical and troubleshooting aptitude and understanding of packaging equipment and experience performing changeovers on equipment.
- Computer Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. Ignition program and AX knowledge is a plus.
- Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Lean / 6 sigma certification or experience preferred.
- Language Skills: Must be able to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and written.
- Travel Requirements: occasional travel required to other Stone locations, events, expos, supplier evaluations, and fellow manufacturing facilities.
Compensation, Benefits & Perks
- Annual Salary Range: Starting at $67,000 (based on experience)
- Bonus Pay: 2.5% of Annual Salary
