Job Description

Colby Community College is seeking a part-time on-campus Social Science Instructor with an emphasis on Witness-Victim Advocacy to join our team. This unique position plays a crucial role in combining the Social Science Program of Studies instructional responsibilities with the oversight, development, and implementation of the Division's preceptorship programs and fostering community engagement initiatives within the college and surrounding communities. The position is essential in developing and maintaining relationships with external partners, coordinating preceptorship placements, and ensuring the successful integration of students into the community.  The candidate must understand the importance of technology, integrity, innovative thinking, and teamwork to increase enrollment in a rural setting.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver high-quality instruction in the social sciences with emphasis on witness-victim advocacy to students in a variety of delivery methods, traditional, blended, accelerated and online settings.
• Create engaging lesson plans, presentations, and educational materials that align with the course objectives.
• Provide guidance and support to students, addressing their questions and concerns effectively.
• Assess student performance through assignments, exams, and other evaluation methods.
• Stay updated with current trends, research, and best practices in the field of witness victim advocacy.
• Develop and coordinate preceptorship programs for students in the various Social and Behavioral Sciences Programs of Study, ensuring alignment with the curriculum and learning objectives.
• Collaborate with Social and Behavioral Sciences faculty to identify preceptorship requirements and ensure alignment with program objectives.
• Identify and establish partnerships with government agencies, service area school systems, community organizations, businesses, and stakeholders to promote collaboration and engagement opportunities for students.
• Identify community needs and develop initiatives to address them, incorporating student involvement whenever possible.

SALARY

Per the Master Agreement, depending on experience and credentials for Professional Employees.

Qualifications

• A master's degree is required in a relevant academic discipline, such as Criminal Justice, Sociology, or a related field.
• Proven expertise and practical experience in witness-victim advocacy.
• Strong communication and presentation skills to effectively convey complex concepts to students.
• Ability to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills to meet instructional deadlines.
• Prior teaching or training experience is preferred but not mandatory.
