Internship Program at WM
We at WM are grounded in our People First commitment which is reflected in our culture and values. Our Internship Program at WM is a 12-week paid program focused on supporting your education with experiential learning. As a WM Intern, you will interact with and conduct various duties and responsibilities for one or more functional teams to develop new skills and learn new areas of the business. Interns gain practical experience, relevant to their field of study, prior to college graduation.
This position will be located at <Houston – Corporate HQ + 40 hours (Hybrid : Tue,Wed,Thu onsite at Corp HQ)>
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential duties satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned and may vary by location.
- Uses problem solving skills to research and present fundamental parts of the assigned business case.
- Conducts analysis as directed and prepares and delivers insights and recommendations based on analysis.
- Synthesizes findings and draws conclusions from analysis and makes oral/written recommendations to supervisor and/or manager.
- Executes tasks related to functional projects and/or process improvements.
- Ability to functionally test capabilities and provide recommendations.
- Collaborates with various digital and business teams to help roadmap and create documentation.
- Communicates issues and roadblocks related to areas of responsibility.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- Education: Interns must have a high school diploma or GED (accredited) and be pursuing a bachelor's degree (accredited) in a field of study relevant to the internship. Completed Course Work Hours: 60.0
- Experience: No prior work experience required.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements:
- Must be available to participate in the 12-week internship program from start to finish (May 28 – Aug 16, 2024)
- Must be available to work 40 hours per week/standard working hours
- Must have completed at least one year of college and be enrolled as a college student in the fall of 2022
Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required
- Ability to work efficiently and independently while maintaining attention to detail
- Able to be flexible and adapt to changing situations while remaining positive
- Ability to work and team up effectively in a diverse, collaborative team environment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word)
- Detail-oriented with the ability to quickly assimilate and apply new concepts, business models, and technologies.
