About the role

Position Summary

The Senior Equipment Specialist will provide failure analysis on the E-3 Reliability, Maintainability, and Availability (RM&A) and E-3 Aging Aircraft studies support for the E-3 systems platform within the AWACS Division. 

 Individuals must be able to attain and maintain a valid US Government Secret level security clearance to be retained in the position.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides data gathering, compiling, and analysis of E-3 AWACS for Aging Aircraft initiatives. 
  • Performs database analysis queries. 
  • Provides sufficient Reliability and Maintainability (R&M) and failure data to allow E-3 AWACS Engineers and Equipment Specialists to perform assigned tasks. 
  • Provides E-3 AWACS PIWG/SSG/CPAB/RUG meeting participants with detailed analysis reports of E-3 database summaries. 
  • Provides analysis for the Health of the Weapons System (HOWS), Cost and Performance Analysis Report (CPA), and Rank reports. 
  • The Rank Report ranks an individual WUC against all other WUC’s to determine the best/worst ranking. 
  • Supports the 552 Air Control Wing (ACW) Cross-Talk semi-annual meetings. 
  • Provides detailed analysis reports of the E-3 database summaries consisting of the HOWs, CPAs, REMIS, and Integrated Maintenance Data System (IMDS) of E-3 AWACS initiatives. 
  • Provides data system queries that deliver sufficient detail to allow the E-3 AWACS engineers to perform assigned tasks. 
  • Conducts engineering analysis of E-3 systems data to determine the root cause of high failure/high maintenance items. 
  • Performs REMIS, JDRS, and Service Letter technical analysis to E-3 AWACS personnel. 
  • Receive, review, analyze, distribute, and record Service Letters, Service Bulletins, and Airworthiness Directive notifications in accordance with AWACS Division standard operating practices/policy. 
  • Performs reviews, analyzes, and submits Time Compliance Technical Order (TCTO), and WUC master records into REMIS to support E-3 AWACS projects/programs. 
  • Provides detailed information (causal reports, corrective actions, DCMA findings, etc.) regarding E-3 material deficiencies that are reported to JDRS. (Detailed information may consist of final reports, causal reports, corrective actions, DCMA dispositions, etc.). 
  • Prepare, coordinate, schedule, and facilitate the E-3 AWACS Monthly Services Letter meeting to review ongoing engineering and technical activities in regard to Service Letter, Service Bulletin, and Airworthiness Directive compliance or applicability.  
  • Assemble, prepare, distribute, and present material, coordinate, schedule, and facilitate the annual and semi-annual meetings at Tinker AFB, OK in support of sustaining engineering failure reporting/analysis and improvement initiatives of the E-3 AWACS, its mission systems and support equipment. 
  • Provide Interim Reports (status updates to action Items) following these meetings. 
  • Schedule, coordinate, facilitate, and record minutes/notes for the PIWG, RUG, CPAB, and SSG meetings, and record minutes/notes for the Maintenance Cross-Talk meetings held twice per year at the 552 ACW Maintenance Group, Tinker AFB, OK. 
  • Serve as the PIWG, RUG, CPAB, SSG, and Maintenance Cross-Talk focal point for the E-3 AWACS Division. 
  • Coordinate submittals, projects, and initiatives with other 707 aircraft users including E-8, E-6, and E-3 Foreign Military Sale (FMS) users to identify commonality, cost savings, and advocate joint ventures to capitalize on project savings for all users. 
  • Provide reports/queries for the E-3 AWACS engineering and technical services staff. The reports/queries shall provide sufficient detailed information so E-3 AWACS engineers and equipment specialists can determine further course of action. 
  • Investigate the USAF E-3 air vehicle and its mission equipment groups for DMS susceptibility issues, coordinate with the Strategic Alternate Sourcing Program Office (SASPO), and provide recommended DMS resolutions.
