Overview
As a Senior Payroll Analyst, you will report to and work closely with the Director of Payroll to ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll, manage related tax filings, and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations and with internal policies.
This position requires an in-depth knowledge of payroll procedures associated with supporting multistate and Canadian payroll functions, tax compliance regulations, accounting practices, and audit requirements. The Senior Payroll Analyst will provide recommendations on changes to internal processing procedures which influence or affect the administration of payroll. This is a highly specialized role with a high degree of responsibility, including backup support for the Director of Payroll as needed.
Responsibilities
- Maintain current and accurate account reconciliations for payroll transactions related to Federal, State, and Local taxes.
- Work closely with payroll service provider to ensure new tax jurisdiction accounts are created timely and correctly.
- Identify and drive initiatives to enhance controls in internal processes.
- Ensure timely and proper remittance for third party deductions of withholding tax and employer payroll tax as required by business processes. (Federal, State and Local taxing authorities)
- Remain current on Federal, State and Local laws influencing payroll matters.
- Research, investigate and provide timely response to post-audit or late filing notifications.
- Review all requests for new pay and deduction types, analyze impact to system and downstream recipients, work with payroll service provider to test and implement changes.
- Monitor and report on patterns/trends of operational or financial concern and recommend solutions.
- Support finance reporting requirements, create ad-hoc reporting as needed.
- Support Payroll SLA deliverables by coaching & mentoring peers.
- Serve as backup support for Payroll Director.
- Process, monitor, manage and reconcile payroll at the employer/employee pay group level across all pay groups, US and Canada.
- Participate as needed in any M&A activities supporting the payroll functions for compliance.

- Ceridian expertise preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of US payroll laws, rules and regulations, policies and procedures, audit and internal control guidelines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
