Job Summary:
The Course Director for the Phase 2 Global Health, Research, and Medical Practice (GHRMP2) course will play a central role in shaping a distinctive global health and humanitarian service model for medical education at the Brigham Young University School of Medicine (BYU MED). The GHRMP2 course will build on the knowledge, skills, and attitudes students developed in the Phase 1 clinical medicine and global health longitudinal courses and supplement the clinical experience of clerkships in Phase 2 of the MD program. The GHRMP2 course director will oversee didactic and applied instruction in core global health and humanitarian principles; clinical skills, communication, and decision making; and principles of Christ-centered care. The course will emphasize case-based learning, learning laboratories, and simulation-based education. The GHRMP2 Course Director will not be responsible for the experiential research component of this longitudinal course; this will be the purview of a research-focused co-course director.

MD, DO, DNP, MBBS (The required degree must be completed by the start date)

Significant clinical experience in the practice of medicine
Demonstrated experience teaching in a medical education environment
Strong real-world background in global health or humanitarian service
Ability to collaborate across disciplines and work in interdisciplinary teams
Preferred Experience:
Experience with simulation-based medical education and standardized patient programs
Track record of scholarship in medical education and/or global health
Duties/Expectations:
Design and deliver the longitudinal Global Health, Research, and Medical Practice course in Phase 2.
Collaborate with the Associate Deans of Curriculum, Global Health & Humanitarian Service, and Research as well as the course directors of the other longitudinal courses to design and implement a cohesive curriculum in global health and humanitarian service spanning all three phases and culminating in the Global Health Immersion.
Contribute to simulation-based education and standardized patient encounters.
Support student professional identity formation and foster Christ-centered care.
Mentor and advise students in their academic and professional development.
Participate in curriculum improvement processes and LCME accreditation activities.
Under the direction of the Department Chair, faculty will also have responsibilities in teaching, scholarship, and citizenship (service).
