We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Director of Employee Relations to spearhead our labor and employee relations strategy across DP World US/Mex. JOB PURPOSE

The Senior Director Employee Relation will be responsible for establishing and executing on the overall Labor and Employee Relations strategy across DP World US/Mex. The strategy will create a labor and employee relations environment that is consistent with company policy and procedures, complying with labor regulations.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

•Investigative complex HR matters ranging from employee concern, complaints, and disputes to facilitate resolutions.

•Advise HR colleagues on HR matters relating to performance management, family and medical leave, health-related issues and claims of unfair treatment.

•Support workplace complex issues and disciplinary actions including terminations, warnings, and grievances.

•Advise on workforce strategy (reductions, acquisitions, or divestitures).

•Partner with Employment Legal, supporting the development and governance of policies and procedures and execution of complex terminations

Partners with business leaders, senior level HR leaders, and Legal colleagues to develop a employee relations strategy ensuring there is a pro-active approach and process to identify and mitigate potential concerns, as well as enabling the execution of key initiatives in the business.

•As part of the overarching employee relations strategy, this role will lead the development of policies, processes, and key metrics to continually identify and improve the environment.

•Maintains a key leadership role in helping to shape and change the culture across DP World US/Mex through proactive employee engagement and change initiatives.

•Responsible for our Fraud/Ethics line, executing proper investigations, follow-up action plans and reporting to head office.

•Provide strategic guidance on labor-specific issues to Human Resources and operational managers on a range of topics (labor investigations, violation of company labor policies, collective bargaining agreements, etc.)

•Develops a robust labor relations strategy including the preparation and participation in the labor negotiation processes, providing advice on interpretation of collective bargaining agreements, and providing advice on mediating or arbitrating grievances as necessary.

•Discuss issues with union representatives representing management and leading discussions during grievance meetings.

•Develop and provide management labor training as required, for the execution of the strategy.

•Ensure company policies are aligned with cities, states, countries, and the world’s labor laws in sync with industry-specific regulations. In addition, to policy setup, enforcing practices to follow these policies daily is also part of HR compliance.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

 

QUALIFICATIONS

•Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Labor Relations, or a related field. Master’s degree is preferred.

•8-10 years of experiences on similar role as an Employee Relations Specialist, ideally

•Proven experience in conducting HR investigations on workplace issues.

•Strong understanding and knowledge of HR policies and US employment laws

•Collaborate with cross-functional teams on projects on global and regional level.

•Excellent written and verbal communication skills

•Strong conflict resolution and mediation skills, with the ability to remain impartial and objective.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

•Travel - You are ready to travel up to 40% of the time within the US/Mex

You can explain just about anything to anyone.  You’re comfortable on the phone or to groups of people – at any level.  You are incredibly tactful when delivering the facts. You are fluent in both English and Spanish.
