Greenville University invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Exercise Science faculty position at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor, beginning Fall 2024. The successful candidate will provide an experiential learning environment that is innovative and relevant.  Offering a bachelor’s degrees in Exercise Science, the department participates in a highly energetic and synergistic academic environment. The career focused curriculum aims to equip creative problem-solvers, communicators, and collaborators. The selected candidate must provide evidence of a vibrant Christian faith, clearly understand and internalize the mission of Greenville University, and articulate the value of Christian higher education.


The successful candidate will exhibit a passion for working with undergraduate students in the context of Christian higher education and will provide an experiential learning environment that is innovative and relevant.  In cooperation with other faculty in the science department and School of Arts and Sciences, the candidate will develop and deliver innovative courses at the undergraduate level. The ideal candidate will be able to grow and nurture community partnerships to further develop experiential learning opportunities for students, providing supervision and guidance for relevant internships. The modality is primarily face to face. 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF FACULTY: 

1. Teach 12-13 credit per fall and spring semesters.

2. Serve as Exercise Science program director. 

3. Contribute to further develop current and future programs.

4. Utilize relevant technologies to train students in face to face, hybrid, and on-line course formats. 

5. Supervise and advise students. 

6. Perform University service including committee work as assigned. 

7. Engage in department and campus service activities.

8. Participate in professional development, including grant writing and research activities. 

9. Assist with recruiting and marketing activities to build student awareness of the major, and student retention efforts.

10. Participate in developing and executing experiential learning opportunities.

11. Exhibit excellent teaching skills and practical experience in the related course material.

12. Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, the ability to relate complex concepts to diverse audiences, and demonstrated cultural competency.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • A Ph.D. or D.B.A. degree Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or closely related fields is preferred. 
  • Consideration will be given to candidates holding a master’s degree, industry experience, and teaching experience. 
  • Additional Credentialing in Athletic Training.
  • Experience in high quality college-level teaching in a variety of exercise and sports science courses is highly desired. 
  • Evidence of college level scholarship.
  • The successful candidate will have content expertise and teaching passion to develop the creative minds of undergraduate students in exercise science disciplines within a Christian worldview.
