Description
The Springfield YMCA is seeking part-time staff for their growing Ninja Program! In this role you will supervise ninja classes and rentals in a safe, enjoyable, energetic, and positive environment that promotes youth development, social responsibility, and healthy living in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement exciting Ninja Wall activities and challenges.
- Inspire and motivate participants to reach their full potential.
- Ensure safety and proper use of the Ninja Wall structure.
- Collaborate with other YMCA staff to create a fun and supportive environment.
Qualifications:
- Experience in fitness, sports, or youth programs.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to work with diverse age groups and skill levels.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Provides direct leadership, instruction, coaching and motivation for athletes in the competitive gymnastics program.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Overarching Goal: Through their planning, actions and daily work creates and fosters a welcoming environment for all persons of all backgrounds and abilities and has a positive, nurturing relationships with children, while building cooperative relationships with parents/caregivers. Promotes and supports the potential of all youth in programs and facilitates peer-to-peer connections as part of the overall YMCA experience.
Recreational Coach
- Instructs gymnastics lessons in accordance with YMCA guidelines, having prepared lesson plans accordingly.
- Builds effective, authentic relationships with students and parents; helps them connect with each other and the YMCA. Encourages parent involvement and identifies potential volunteers.
- Conveys information on gymnastics programs and schedules and as appropriate refers students and parents to other programs.
- Maintains records as required (i.e., attendance, progress reports, etc.).
- Attends staff meetings and trainings as scheduled.
- Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations, and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.
- Organizes and puts away needed class equipment. Reports damaged equipment.
- Trains and supervises class aides as assigned.
