GENERAL SUMMARY
To provide dietetic and nutritional service to both inpatients, outpatients, and long-term care residents of GAHHS. To provide support and guidance to the medical staff with regards to the science of nutrition and disease. Collaborating with multiple department directors and staff to meet the needs of nutrition. Coordinate with various community organizations to raise awareness of a healthy lifestyle.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
May include but are not limited to the following:
- Assess the nutritional needs of clients who have been referred, or those that meet nutrition screening critiera, due to having a medical condition, which puts them at nutritional risk.
- Identify the client’s nutrition-related problems and work in conjunction with the health care team to determine the possible cause of the problem.
- Based on analysis of the data and input from the healthcare team, the dietitian will exercise clinical judgement to determine the best nutrition approach by recommending interventions appropriate to the individual. The effectiveness of the nutrition interventions is re-evaluated as needed to determine if they continue to be appropriate.
- Assist the Director of Dietetics with developing quality measures and indicators and development of policies and procedures as needed.
- Collaborate with the Long Term Care Administrator, nursing and the healthcare team to comply with Federal and State Guidelines for nutritional care of residents and patients.
- Counsel clients as requested in various settings (inpatient, outpatient, long-term care).
- Assist the Dietetics Director with training staff, if needed.
- Collaborate with and assist the directors of Culinary Creations and Dietetics in planning the menus for regular and therapeutic diets, developing checklists, schedules, and quality assurance forms, and checking staff for safe food handling procedures.
- Report abuse or suspected abuse to the Long Term Care Administrator.
- Provide nutritional guidance to clients at Elite Sport and Fitness who have requested a consultation.
- Participate in various community events with regards to nutrition education.
Qualifications
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

- Work requires ability to stand up to 15 minutes at a time.
- Work requires communication abilities necessary to gather and exchange information with all departments, clients, medical professionals and patients. This would include face-to-face, telephone and computer skills.
- Work requires the ability to use a computer and to have consulting skills.
- Work requires visual acuity necessary to observe and obtain information and use documentation.
- Work requires the ability to sit for prolonged periods of time (2-3 hours).
