Why This Role Matters

The Marketing and Research Temporary Coordinator role at Christie’s will be exposed to the art world and auction industry through hands-on experience in the 20th/21st Century Department. The duties are varied, and will follow the cycle of the sales calendar as well as certain duties to support overall department activity. This role supports the 20th Century Evening Sale and the Impressionist & Modern Works on Paper and Day Sales.

How You'll Make an Impact

Marketing

  • Act as point person between the marketing and sale teams to ensure all marketing assets have been approved and marketing promises are executed.

  • Manage the Marketing Runner to collate and track all marketing assets, deadlines, and promises.

  • Manage and coordinate asset production for all online promotional material including enhanced content and bespoke promised website features.

  • Manage and track all tour promises. 

  • Join weekly calls with the tours team and act as liaison between tours and sale teams. Assist Sale Coordinator with compiling tour assets.

  • Collate and disseminate all tour materials such as Factsheets, talking points, condition reports to local sale teams.

Research

  • Assist the Head of Research and relevant team with the production of Impressionist and Modern art online lot essays, dedicated catalogues and other sale materials as needed.

  • Assist Head of Research and relevant team with preliminary layouts and design of online lot essays.

  • Work with Copyright Coordinator and Publishing teams to ensure assets and images are correctly collated and inserted during online lot essay production.

  • Regularly review layouts to ensure amends are being made, and outstanding issues are flagged in a timely manner.

  • Supporting the proposal preparation process.

  • Assist with installing the galleries for auction previews, which includes compiling and mounting lot cards, and taking installation images for each work.

  • General department tasks as assigned by line manager

What you’ll bring to the team

  • Hard-working, energetic, and intellectually curious self-starter who can thrive in a high-pressure environment

  • Interest in Impressionist & Modern Art

  • Previous marketing experience is a plus

  • Proficiency in Excel, including familiarity with Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, match formulas, and macros are a plus

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and Sharepoint

  • Knowledge of Canvas and JDE is preferred

  • Exceptional client service skills, including strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Strategic and commercially minded

  • Superior attention to detail, organizational, and follow-up skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including superior written and spoken communication.

  • Ability to work collaboratively across multiple groups and sites

  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations

  • Ability to creatively problem solve
