Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, Behavioral Health Nursing Unit, is hiring a Full-Time, Night Shift, Registered Nurse Unit Coordinator!

Hours/Shift: Full-Time (36 hours), Night Shift (7PM - 7AM)

Department Overview: Sentara offers both inpatient and outpatient behavioral health services to patients 18 and older who are in crisis due to mental illness, emotional distress, or destructive behavior patterns. Because our treatment facilities are located within local hospitals, patients have access to the full range of both psychiatric and medical care. This is especially helpful for patients experiencing symptoms that are confusing and impact their physical health.     The Registered Nurse Unit Coordinator demonstrates proficiency in nursing practice for assigned specialty area and provides clinical leadership for the delivery of nursing care in a department. Under the direction of the department manager leads safety and quality initiatives, focuses on and simplifies workflow, and contributes to the development of staff. Increase staff satisfaction and promotes excellent (Gold Standard) customer service.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Bachelor's in Nursing (BSN)
    • 18 months prior nursing experience
    • Virginia or Compact Multi-state license in good standing
    • Behavioral Health - De-escalation and physical intervention training within 15 days of hire

    • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required within 90 days of hire

    Preferred:

    • Master degree (if the graduate degree is not in nursing then the BSN is required)

    • Prior therapeutic behavioral health acute care experience

    • Professional Specialty Nursing Certification

    18 months nursing experience required. BSN required; Master degree preferred, if the graduate degree is not in nursing then the BSN is required. Meets any requirements defined by specific specialty.
    Behavioral Health - de-escalation and physical intervention training within 15 days of hire.
    Emergency Care - de-escalation and physical intervention training within 90 days of hire.
    BLS required within 90 days of hire. Professional Specialty Nursing Certification preferred.

    Qualifications:

    N-4YR - RN-Bachelor's Level Degree (Required), N-6YR - RN-Master's Level Degree (Required), N-DN - RN-Doctorate Level Degree (Required)

    Basic Life Support (BLS) - Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) RQI, Registered Nurse (RN) Single State - Nursing License - North Carolina, Registered Nurse (RN) Single State - Nursing License - Virginia Department of Health Professionals (VADHP), Registered Nurse License (RN) - Nursing License - Compact/Multi-State License
