Java Lead Software Engineer – Madrid, Spain

As Java Lead Software Engineer, you will plan and coordinate activities related to the design, development, implementation, integration, and production support of Java/MuleSoft integrations, while also mentoring Java Engineers.

• Mulesoft Cloudhub, Kafka event streaming 

• Mambu Cloud Banking platform, Mambu Process Orchestrator 

• Marqeta for Card Issuing & processing 

• Outsystems Platform for UI development 

• GitLab, JIRA, Cloudbees, OpenSearch, Swaggerhub, Snowflake, Talend 

Role Responsibilities 

• Work with Business Owners to logically design and negotiate solutions that create a significant return on investment and participate in the long-term planning for products. 

• Lead work on innovative, actionable and efficient technology solutions to drive Microservices development using Java Spring Boot framework and other API enhancements on the middleware platforms for the assigned region. 

• Mentoring less experienced Java Engineers. 

• Ensure SDLC standards, and PLC procedures and processes are followed. 

• Assist Project Manager with planning and scheduling of product releases. 

• Assess technical skills, identify training needs and opportunities, and ensure that required materials and tools are available for direct reports to perform their job responsibilities. 

• Proactively suggest areas of improvements and enhancements. 

• Responsible for project software design and contribute to the overall enterprise architecture design. 

• Provide accurate and complete software development estimates for large software projects. 

Role Requirements 

• BS in Computer Science or related fields with 7+ years of professional experience  

Strong hands-on experience building applications using Java, Spring Boot framework, Cassandra DB or similar databases, Multithreading, serialization, Externalization, Collections, etc.  

• Ability to lead technology projects and mentor Java Engineers 

project management, great interpersonal, strong written, verbal communication skills that address business needs and experience in successfully building partnerships with other regional IT groups. 

• Experience with J2EE technologies, JDBC, ORM, JAXB, DevOps tools, Kafka 

• Experience with APIs, REST/JSON, Microservices, XML, XSLT 

• Experience in Core Banking systems and integrations a plus 

• Experience with agile development methodologies with Test Driven Development (TDD) and CI (Continuous Integration)/CD (Continuous Delivery) 

• Proven ability to understand the business and ability to contribute to technology direction that drives measurable business improvements. 

• Strong technical skills in architecture patterns, solutions design & development. 

• Troubleshooting skills and aptitude with logs and debugging procedures.
