Position Summary:
The Proposal Manager is a critical member of the Commercial Operations Team and will be responsible to collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to define and drive the commercial strategy, risk profile, profitability and customer responses for assigned Proposals. This role is responsible for leading the demand to order (DTO) process and providing high quality proposals/quotes. In this role, you will spearhead the overall deal formulation including project management, risk compliance per defined policies, financial health, response management, contracting, negotiations, all approval requests, and internal handoffs, drive process improvement, with accountability for meeting quality, process compliance and business objectives. This role may also support contracting activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own proposal related commercial activities through the deal lifecycle, including development of deal (project) schedules and tracking activities to ensure on time delivery; Deals to be built on winning price strategies and equitable T’s &C’s. 25%
- Lead broad, cross functional teams while coordinating all inputs and outcomes to maximize customer value and meet business objectives of the deal; Establishes strong working relationships with Sales Leadership, Financial (Deals Desk), Customer Delivery (PMO), Regional Operations Leadership, Product Management and Legal partners for optimal engagement in deals. Supports sales in the opportunity assessment phase to increase order entry volume, and to identify convertibility of quoted products and services. 20%
- Responsible to enforce the DTO process, use of key work procedures/templates, institutionalizing of process improvements, and accurate/timely use of CRM, sharepoint, RFPIO, or other critical systems. Build and maintains strong portfolio understanding, and multi-functional disciplines needed to deliver on-time, high quality deals. 10%
- Spearhead and present deal reviews to ensure that all risks, mitigation strategies and business approvals are properly secured and reflected in the scope, schedule, financials and overall quote or response. 10%
- Interface with the Sales teams to develop commercial strategies and solutions that will meet/exceed customer requirements and business goals & objectives. 10%
- Manage workload with accountability for business KPIs - order budgets, proposal timeliness, cycle time, hit rate/win rate, risk compliance and project profitability. 10%
- Support the deal team during negotiations to ensure successful closure. 10%
- Own a clean and comprehensive handoff to the execution/deployment team. 5%

Education & Experience:
- Required Minimum Level of Education: Bachelors Degree
- Required Minimum Years of Experience: 2+ to 5
- Desired Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university
- MBA a plus
- 3-5 years’ experience
- A combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Required/Desired Certifications: PMP, APMP, ACCM
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Commercial experience with the ability to structure creative deals for customer solutions, and eal effectively with customers
- Strong executive presence with effective communication skills
- Excellent written and analytical skills
- Utility industry knowledge/competitive landscape understanding is preferred
- Basic knowledge of legal aspects and contracting requirements
- Must have very proficient multitasking, project management and time management skills
- Computer skills that include Microsoft Office
