Role Overview: The Refrigeration Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the manufacturing plant's refrigeration system, ammonia system, air compressors, and hot water system. This includes performing preventative maintenance tasks, conducting inspections, testing, troubleshooting, and making necessary repairs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Adhere to all safety precautions and health hazard protocols related to ammonia, as per Tyson requirements.

• Ensure compliance with state, federal, and local regulations, including OSHA and the EPA.

• Maintain, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair the following:

  • HOWDEN, SULLAIR, & MYCOM Ammonia Compressors, condensers, valve stations.

  • Heat exchangers, pump packages, and liquid ammonia pumps.

  • Air units, refrigeration PLC, and all control components.

  • Boilers.

  • Air Compressors.

  • Hot Water System.

• Maintain these components in optimal operating condition to meet Food Industry Standards.

• Participate as an Emergency Response Team Member.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Education:

• 1 year of industrial maintenance experience education preferred (e.g., possess industrial maintenance diploma or currently enrolled in technical school) in lieu of experience.

Experience:

• 1(+) years of industrial ammonia refrigeration experience or equivalent experience required.

Computer Skills:

• Basic computer skills necessary to log information, process daily work orders, and complete required documentation.

• Ability to learn and utilize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

Communication Skills:

• Effective communication skills and basic math skills are necessary to perform this job satisfactorily.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be willing and able to lift/push/pull up to 75 lbs.

• Ability to walk or stand on hard floors for 8-12 hour days.

• Regularly required to stand, stoop, climb ladders, change work levels, twist, squat, climb stairs, reach, push, pull, and move about the facility.

• Ability to move from one area of production to another.

• Ability to work in a cold, damp to hot environment.
