Staff Product Designer, Data Discovery

In this role, you will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product management and engineering to create high-quality, well-designed software. Your role is to shape how users access, manage, and share data in Databricks. Data is crucial for all experiences, and you'll work with different teams to find patterns and best practices to enhance user experiences.
As a key member of our product design team, you will work closely with your colleagues to craft user experiences to make data better accessible to users. Your efforts will play a significant role in fulfilling our mission of simplifying data science and empowering people to tackle the world's most challenging issues.
The impact you will have:

Lead data discovery across the product, shaping the product vision

Design the data browsing/exploring experience and other key product areas for quick access to relevant data

Work with designers, elevating their skills and adhering to best practices

Create design patterns in collaboration with the product design team

Collaborate with other designers to unify designs across products

Seek and provide design feedback, improving the design process
What we look for:
-
A portfolio showcasing 4+ years of product design experience, including 2-4 years of relevant product design experience

Strong interaction design and product design work
-
Ability to explain design decisions to design, engineering, and product teams

3+ years of experience shipping great digital products
-
A diverse product design skillset that can delight a technical audience

Ability to analyze business metrics, conduct customer conversations, and debate with the engineering team

Use research to understand customer goals and validate design proposals

A bachelor's degree or equivalent in HCI, interaction design, graphic design, computer science, or related disciplines

Nice to have: experience designing in the data industry or similar fields.

Pay Range Transparency
Databricks is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The pay range(s) for this role is listed below and represents base salary range for non-commissionable roles or on-target earnings for commissionable roles. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, depth of experience, relevant certifications and training, and specific work location. Based on the factors above, Databricks utilizes the full width of the range. The total compensation package for this position may also include eligibility for annual performance bonus, equity, and the benefits listed above.
