Job Summary:
The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics (BMG) and The Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes (BDC) at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus jointly invites applications for an Assistant Professor. The person holding this position will develop and direct an independent, externally funded research program related to the development and/or investigation of the molecular and/or cellular mechanisms related to understanding the islet beta cell function in the context of Type 1 Diabetes. This individual will be responsible for the daily management, supervision, training and evaluation of personnel (such as graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and professional research assistants) whose positions are funded by research grants on which they are the principal investigator.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and lead an independent externally funded research program
Develop novel approaches to understand how RNA translation affects beta cell function in the context of diabetes
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across the basic and translational research community to obtain external funding and publish high-impact manuscripts
Present research in all appropriate venues to increase the awareness of research being performed in the lab, and to facilitate collaborative interactions.
Participate in service activities within the department(s), the university and the broader scientific community that contribute to the accomplishment of department and university missions, and that promote the success and welfare of the broader scientific and medical community.
Mentor pre- and post-doctoral trainees
Work Location:
Onsite – this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.
